Dr. Tenesha J. Lewis, DrPH, MPH
Founder & Principal Strategist
Dr. Tenesha J. Lewis, DrPH, MPH, is a strategic executive and nationally recognized thought leader in health systems transformation and equity strategy. With nearly 20 years of experience directing multi-million dollar organizational programs, Dr. Lewis brings a unique combination of executive leadership, public health expertise, and equity-centered thinking to every engagement.
As founder of Abloom Transformation Group, Dr. Lewis serves as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and teams seeking to embed equity principles into organizational DNA. Her experience includes developing strategic frameworks for health equity implementation that have been adopted across multiple state health systems and establishing organizational precedent for equity-centered public health practice.
Prior to founding Abloom, Dr. Lewis held leadership positions at the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), Black AIDS Institute, and other prominent organizations, where she directed national initiatives addressing health disparities and building equity-centered approaches to public health challenges.
Dr. Lewis holds a Doctorate in Public Health Education from Loma Linda University, a Master of Public Health degree from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Duke University. Her academic background, combined with extensive field experience, allows her to bridge theoretical frameworks with practical implementation.
As a facilitator and educator, Dr. Lewis has trained hundreds of healthcare professionals on equity-centered practices, structural racism, implicit bias, and cultural humility. Her approach emphasizes building internal capacity while creating sustainable systems change.
Dr. Lewis serves on multiple national committees and has contributed to publications addressing racial and ethnic health disparities. She remains actively engaged in community service, mentoring Black and Latinx women entering public health and healthcare fields.
Tenesha presently enjoys residence in Central Virginia with her husband, son, and dog.
